Humour for the older generation

A good mood increases the zest for life. Health clowns regularly visit retirement homes, bringing humour and fond memories. Clown shows for the elderly are based on the same principle as clown shows for children, yet they differ in many ways. The red nose remains, however.

Health clowns wear different costumes and have different names. They create different stories and situations with seniors than they do with children. Instead of the playful clown nurses and doctors that fill the children's ward, Health Clowns become cheerful companions without medical coats. Magic has been replaced by songs by Karel Hašler or the Beatles. Health Clowns willingly listen to their clients and, through stories and skits, take them back to the days when they led active lives. In old age, more than ever before, there is a focus on settling things, harmonising relationships and "cleaning up" the world around them and their own lives. Health Clowns try to accommodate this as much as possible. Memories and memory are absolutely essential for seniors. During their visits, Health Clowns therefore also use memory training techniques. Humour is definitely not missing from the visits. It is just dosed differently by Health Clowns, with respect and humility towards its recipients.
